Way back in March I told you about an upcoming trip to Fiji. After many months of organizing with several hotels, we have finalized everything and are just days away from going! It’s been a long process where at times I wasn’t sure if it was even going to happen. One of the hotels that initially sponsored us was unable to finalize our room due to a scheduling conflict but with hard work and luck, we secured a room at another fantastic resort. Now that it’s all sorted, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief, and focus on being crazy excited. I have dreamed of visiting Fiji for so many years, and it is finally coming true.
As is typical when I book a holiday, our schedule feels a bit hectic especially for Fiji time. We will spend our time on 3 different islands. Three different islands would be amazing if we had 3 weeks, but could feel rushed with only 8 nights.
Our first stop will be to the amazingly gorgeous and secluded Yasawa Island Resort & Spa. My son is most excited by the fact that it’s a private island. He wants to know how they keep it private. In his words ‘Do they count the people each day to make sure no one got on the island?’ Lol. He says he can’t wait to ride on the tiny island hopper plane, land in a field of grass and buy shells at the village shell market. I can’t wait to soak up the crystal clear waters, hike around the island and visit the local villages.
One of the ‘activities’ on the different islands are village visits. When tourists visit the villages they also often bring an assortment of items for the children or families living there. We have been putting together our packages of notepads, pencils and stickers which my son is excited to hand out in ‘goody bags’!
From Yasawa we will head back to Viti Levu to the fabulous 5 star Nanuku Resort. The resort itself looks so amazing but the amount of activities and sights to see in the area is out of this world. I know I will have a hard time trying to do nothing when there is so much to see and experience there!
Our final stop will be to the island of Vanua Levu where we will be ushered away to the amazingly child friendly Koro Sun Resort & Rainforest Spa. This hotel is the one that initially sold me on Fiji as a family destination. Talk of “Bula Buddies” aka nannies and the amazing array of included activities for families makes me wish we could stay for a week! It is billed as a nature lover’s dream, which if you know much about our family sounds like a perfect match. We have a long list of things to do including a trek through the rainforest, a herbal walk and Cian wants to try his hand at handline fishing. Or maybe we will spend all of our time snorkeling and relaxing at the beautiful resort…
To find out what we get up to, follow our journey on Instagram and Facebook as we explore one of the worlds most luxurious destinations as a family. During our trip and in the coming weeks, we will be sharing photos, tips on travel in Fiji as well as extensive reviews of the fabulous places we visit! #fijihappy
