Top 4 Adult Activities For Your Family Trip To Florida

Sharing is caring!

Florida is a great family friendly destination filled with amazing theme parks and beautiful beaches. But if you are a parent taking your kids to Florida, you might feel like you need a break from all of the kid’s activities every now and again. Even though there are plenty of things for the kids to enjoy, there are also a ton of great things just for the adults.  Below are the top 4 activities for adults on a family trip to Florida.

Top 4 Activities for Your Family Trip to Florida

Kennedy Space Center

When you are visiting Florida with the kids, you can’t miss out on the theme parks. Although there are things for all ages at the theme parks, lets face it, they are more geared towards children. Unless you are a Disney or Universal super fan, this may not be the best day out for you. However, Kennedy Space Center is a great attraction that is fun for both the adults as well as the kids. They have all sorts of attractions with decommissioned rockets and you might even get to meet a real astronaut. It’s a great educational trip for the kids as well, so it’s perfect for the whole family. This is a homeschool favorite too!

Take a Boat Trip

There are some great boat trips that you can take around Florida, especially in the Fort Lauderdale area. After a few exhausting days of walking around theme parks, you might feel like you need to do a relaxing activity to blow off a bit of steam, and a party boat is the best way to do that. The kids can still come along for the ride and the adults can enjoy a few drinks and some time to unwind on the open water. This is a super fun Florida activity that will appeal to families as well as adults on their own kid free holiday!

OFF THE BEATEN PATH TIP: If you find yourself with some time on your hands, add Mount Dora to your Florida itinerary. An adorable town in Central Florida worth the effort. Go boating, fishing and more!

The Dali Museum

Ok, you may not be able to make it to Spain, but if you want to inject a bit of culture into your trip to Florida, head out to the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg. It is home to over 2000 pieces of Dali’s art, making it the second largest collection in the world. Even the building itself is an incredible piece of surrealist art and you can easily spend an afternoon lost inside. Although art galleries aren’t always a hit with kids, the surrealist nature of Dali’s art is exciting for everybody and it might inspire a love of art in your kids.

Dry Tortugas National Park

One of the best parts of visiting Florida is making time to explore the amazing natural scenery. One of the best is at the Dry Tortugas National Park, which is one of the most underrated attractions in Florida. This collection of islands is only accessible by boat or seaplane, but it’s an adventure worth the effort. You will find 100 square miles of national parks with some amazing coral reefs to dive in and some incredible wildlife to spot. It’s also home to Fort Jefferson, so if you’re a history lover, it’s perfect. There is a lot to discover in this national park, so everybody in the family should enjoy it and it makes a nice change from endless theme parks.

FLORIDA HOT SPOT: Looking for a place that has adventure, fun for the whole family and isn’t loaded with theme parks? Consider heading to the panhandle of Florida and to Destin with it’s beautiful beaches and so much to do!

Even though you might think a trip to Florida is mostly about the kids and kid focused attractions, there are some great adult friendly activities to add to your itinerary as well.
