2018 Travel Dreams

2018 Travel DreamsHappy New Year!! I hope your 2018 is off to an exciting start. For the 4th year in a row I am laying out my travel dreams in writing. At this point I have only 1 flight booked, but I have grand dreams for the year ahead!

Last year I was able to do quite a bit from my 2017 Travel Dreams list. Iceland, Alaska, Costa Rica and several new national parks. And finally, after 16 years of traveling I have finally achieved my goal of visiting as many countries as my age! Woo Hoo! I’ve been chasing that goal since I was 24 years old.

It’s always difficult for me to narrow down where to go since basically every destination in the world is on my list in one way or another! However, I have found that if I don’t try to come up with a list of what is achievable or what my dreams are, then I get stuck going almost nowhere because of my indecision!

This year I am focusing much of my travels on destinations that Southwest Airlines flies. Why? Because I was a lucky California resident who was able to take advantage of a SW offer giving California residents a companion pass for all of 2018 just by getting and using their Chase associated credit card. Can’t beat that. So, I feel like I must take advantage of this. My goal is to use the card once a month if I can. Lets see how I end up at the end of the year.

2017 Travel Dreams

2017 Travel DreamsHappy New Year!! I hope your 2017 is off to an active and exciting start. For the 3rd year in a row I am laying out my travel dreams in writing. I haven’t quite gotten prepared enough to actually purchase any tickets this year, but I am putting my lofty aspirations out there so the universe can work it’s magic!

Last year I was able to do quite a bit from my 2016 Travel Dreams list. San Francisco, Seattle, London, South Africa and Ireland were all crossed off the list. Unfortunately Yellowstone was not. Instead, we added Central Oregon, which was amazing. Either way, it was a fantastic year for travel. I also did not get to do many of the things on my personal to do list, but I will try again this year.

Being obsessed with travel means having a never-ending list of places to visit. Since this list basically includes almost everywhere in the world, it is hard to actually narrow it down to what will happen THIS year. Right now, based on our family’s interests these are the top priorities that we hope to make happen. But I already know some are pipe dreams in the works, that we hope to accomplish in a few years! We do not have any set in stone trips planned for this year yet, so I am not quite sure what the year will turn out to be, but it will be fun and full of adventure even if it’s closer to home than it was last year.

Dream Travel Destinations for 2016

Travel Dreams for 2016Last year I started the year off with my dream travel list for the year. I only managed to do 3 of the items on my list, but they were pretty lofty goals if I do say so. Instead of the several international trips I had hoped for, we ended up spending much more time locally than abroad which was good in a way. I am enjoying continuing to explore all there is on offer in SoCal.
